# What is a split-test?
A split-test is where two (or more) different versions of a message are sent out at random. The results can then be compared to see which version works best.
Split tests are also often called "A/B tests".
# How it works
Split tests in MarketingUS take advantage of URL merges. Because we can use a URL-merge to identify who clicks, we can also use that to identify which split-test version works best.
# How to use
To run a split test, click the "+" icon next to the "A/B Test" label, as shown below:
Once added, you will see tabs which you can use to switch between versions to edit them:
# Viewing Results
You can view results of a split-test in our dashboard widget.
